How to Get the Best Results Using the Proactiv Solution 3 Step System

My experience with Proactiv Solution comes from not only being a user of the product, but also from my time as a Customer Service Representative for them. I’ve talked to thousands of customers and taking what I’ve heard from them, I’ve come up with this guide to get the best results. Proactiv Solution has become one of (if not the) most popular acne treatments, and is certainly the most advertised. Millions of people have seen their infomercials featuring numerous Celebrity endorsements. But I don’t care about how Jessica Simpson or Sean “P Diddy” Combs got clearer skin, I’m objective doing this for you!

First Things First

Okay, here’s some things that applies to the entire 3 Step Process and how to get the best results.

First off, it is recommend that you use all 3 parts of the system once or twice a day, every day. If not used regularly, you won’t see results as quickly, if at all. Usually using it once a day is fine, as I know for some people twice a day can be a bit much. Lastly, if at any point you start to behold harsh reactions from using the product, such as your skin drying out, I first recommend slowing down your usage to once every other day, and if that unexcited cause your skin to have some kind of reaction that is unbearable, stop immediately. While this is not very common, just hold in mind that the product is not designed to be unbearably harsh on your skin. It is possible your skin is too sensitive for the 3 step system. At that point, I’d recommend calling the Customer Service number, as they might have something that could work better for you.

Step 1: Renewing Cleanser

The first step of the 3 step system is the Cleanser (aka the stuff in the bigger white bottle). When using the cleanser you want to pour a dime size amount into your hands and rub it into your skin for 1-2 minutes before thoroughly rinsing it off. The Cleanser uses a chemical called Benzoyl Peroxide, which if used too much or too frequently can dry out your skin, which is we only a dime amount is suggested.

Also, Benzoyl Peroxide can bleach fabrics so you want to rinse it off well before padding the region with a towel. I’ve always recommended using the Cleanser in the shower since it makes it easier to apply and then rinse.

Step 2: Revitalizing Toner

The next step is the Toner (aka the stuff in the green bottle). You want to consume a dime size amount on a cotton ball or pad and apply it, and then allow it to dry. It can take a couple of minutes to dry. The Toner does not use Benzoyl Peroxide, so it will not be as drying to your skin. Cotton Pads tend to work better than Cotton Balls, as the Balls are more absorbent of the liquid, which means you’ll not get as much on your skin as if you used a Cotton Pad. It can be difficult to try to get a dime size amount, but try to get it as close as you can.

Step 3: Repairing Lotion

The third and final step is the Lotion (aka the stuff in the small white bottle). With the Lotion you only want to use an amount about the size of a Pea onto your hand and then apply to the affected area. It also uses Benzoyl Peroxide, which is why you exhaust such a small amount, but with this step you don’t rinse it off, so make positive you let it dry before you have any fabrics approach in contact with the area where you just applied it.

Once you are done with that, you are done with the 3 step system!

Things to Remember

Here some important things that should be known before using the product. First of, it usually does take 2 to 3 weeks to see results. It does vary, as I’ve heard from people who said it worked immediately and others who said it took over a month, but it usually does take some patience. The reason why it takes this long is because it takes that long to work through the pores. For some people it will appear to be getting worse at first, but that is the system helping to push out the dirt and grease.

Because it is not a spot treatment but rather a system that is intended to be worn regularly, some people stop using the system and notice that their skin will be clear for a few days after using it. It is possible that it has helped clear your skin to the point that you might not need to use it any more, but there’s a good chance that not long after you stop, you will explore acne re-appear.

If you are seeing a Dermatologist, ask them first what they think of you using the 3 step system. Everybody’s skin is different, and while Proactiv Solution was created by 2 Dermatologists, your Dermatologist will be more familiar with your skin and what most likely will or will not serve.

Acne is not fun for anybody, so I sincerely hope this has been helpful and the Proactiv Solution works for you.
